Families recently gathered at De La Salle Holy Cross College for a vibrant and inspiring Open Day that beautifully showcased what makes our College such a special place to learn and grow. The morning was filled with excitement, curiosity and connection as prospective families experienced first-hand the warm, welcoming spirit that defines our community.
From the moment visitors arrived, it was clear that childhood is truly celebrated at the Junior School. Classrooms were alive with energy as pupils and teachers demonstrated how learning happens through exploration, creativity and collaboration. Our inquiry-based approach encourages children to ask questions, investigate ideas and develop essential 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, teamwork and confidence.
Prospective families had the opportunity to explore our purpose-built learning spaces designed to spark curiosity and support flexible learning. They discovered how hands-on experiences and engaging initiatives such as Hobby Days allow pupils to pursue their interests, solve real-world problems and grow academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. Through rotational teaching, each child is supported and extended at the appropriate level in every subject, ensuring that every learner thrives.
Beyond the classroom, families also gained insight into the rich co-curricular life of the College. Sport, cultural activities, service initiatives and leadership opportunities form an integral part of our holistic programme, helping pupils develop empathy, resilience and a strong sense of teamwork. At De La Salle Holy Cross College, every child is known, supported and encouraged to discover their unique gifts.
This philosophy is deeply rooted in the Lasallian tradition of “Love First, Teach Second,” inspired by St Benildus and St John Baptist de La Salle. We believe that strong relationships create confident learners and that everyday moments, guided with care and excellence, can shape extraordinary futures.
At the High School campus, prospective families had the chance to learn how the journey continues for pupils are guided by our principle of ‘Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve’. Building on the strong foundations laid in the Junior School, our High School offers a progressive and holistic education that challenges pupils academically while nurturing leadership, faith, creativity and resilience.
The success of the Open Day was a wonderful reminder of the strength of our community. We extend heartfelt thanks to the staff, pupils, alumni and families who helped make the day so memorable. It was a privilege to welcome so many prospective families and we look forward to many of them becoming part of the De La Salle Holy Cross College story.
After all, when a school celebrates childhood, inspires curiosity, nurtures faith and builds meaningful relationships, the future looks very bright indeed.
