By embracing Jesus’ Teachings we guide our pupils to serve others and make a lasting impact
Our motto Be First that you may be of Service is integral to the life and spirit of the College. In the Gospel we read how Jesus, by his example, taught us to serve one another. A variety of outreach activities are included in our co-curricular programme and pupils are encouraged to participate in the many initiatives that take place throughout the year. Our pupils enter the College to learn, and it is our hope that their involvement in outreach prepares them to live a life of service once they leave.
The ethos of the College enshrines the founding principles of the De La Salle Brothers and the Holy Cross Sisters. In the words of De La Salle, we are reminded to “Be warm-hearted to everyone, speaking to others in a gentle and respectful way.” De La Salle Holy Cross College community is defined by its connection, care and commitment to each other and our pupils.
Involvement in various outreach activities allows opportunities for our motto, ‘Be First that you may be of Service’ to provide authentic and meaningful experiences for everyone to be touched by the needs of others and to reach out and make a difference.
The support and generosity of the parent body is seen in many aspects of the College. The proactive and hands on approach of the members of Parents’ Advisory Council, the Fundraising Committee and the Transformation, Diversity and Inclusivity Committee ensures that strengths are identified, and energy is harnessed and initiatives are launched that strengthen and deepen our commitment to quality education and respect for all persons.
The College community promotes our family environment that shares a sense of belonging and pride in a legacy that spans across 70 years. We look forward to many more years of positive community engagement which is a supportive pillar and integral part of College life.
