De La Salle Holy Cross College is proud to announce a significant milestone celebration on Friday, 15 May 2026, as the College community gathers to honour the life and legacy of St John Baptist de La Salle, Patron Saint of Teachers, while also commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the amalgamation of Holy Cross Convent and De La Salle College.
This landmark occasion celebrates four decades since the two founding charisms united in 1986 to form the vibrant co-educational institution now known as De La Salle Holy Cross College. Rooted in the Lasallian and Holy Cross traditions, the College continues to nurture young people through faith, community, excellence in education and service to others.
The day’s celebrations will begin with Holy Mass at 08h00 at St Charles Catholic Church, celebrated by Cardinal Stephen Brislin. This sacred gathering will offer the College community an opportunity to give thanks for the generations of educators, pupils, families and staff who have contributed to the College’s rich history and enduring legacy.
Following the Mass, pupils, staff, alumni, parents and invited guests will gather for a special One College Assembly and community picnic on St Solomon Field at the High School campus.
Speaking on the significance of the celebration, the College reflected on the enduring spirit of the amalgamation and the shared mission that continues to guide the institution today:
“As we celebrate 40 years of amalgamation in the Holy Presence of God, we honour the courage, vision and faith of those who brought together the De La Salle and Holy Cross charisms in service of young people. Their legacy lives on through our One College community and our commitment to faith, service, excellence and belonging.” -Mr Neil Berndsen, College Principal
De La Salle Day remains an important occasion within the global Lasallian community, recognising the profound contribution of St John Baptist de La Salle to education and his dedication to making quality education accessible to all. The 2026 celebration carries even deeper significance as the College reflects on four decades of unity, growth and shared purpose.
The College warmly invites its broader community to join in this meaningful celebration of faith, heritage and unity.
