De La Salle Holy Cross College is deeply committed to its Catholic ethos, fostering a faith-centered environment where pupils grow spiritually, morally, and academically. Rooted in the values of the Holy Cross and Lasallian charisms, the College encourages a strong sense of community, service, and compassion. Through initiatives like Lasallian Youth, pupils have meaningful opportunities for spiritual engagement, leadership, and outreach, promoting a lived faith that extends beyond the classroom. Regular liturgical celebrations, retreats, and service projects further nurture a commitment to Gospel values, shaping pupils into compassionate and socially responsible individuals.
To further strengthen this mission, the College appointed Mr Grant Hanouch, DLSHCC Class of 1995, as the Religious Education Director in January. His leadership plays a vital role in deepening pupils’ spiritual formation, enhancing faith-based programs, and ensuring that the College’s Catholic identity remains at the heart of all it does. With over two decades of experience in Catholic education and youth ministry, Grant brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to his role, where he oversees religious programs and spiritual development at the school.
Prior to joining De La Salle Holy Cross College, Grant spent 15 years at St. Benedict’s College, where he served as the Head of Ethos. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in shaping the college’s Catholic identity, fostering a strong ethos of faith and service among students. Grant’s expertise extends across various aspects of Catholic youth ministry, specializing in Confirmation Preparation, the planning and running of retreats, establishing and leading youth groups, and developing Religious Education curricula tailored to the needs of Catholic schools.
With a deep passion for faith formation and a commitment to nurturing young people’s spiritual journeys, Grant continues to make a lasting impact in the field of Catholic education and youth ministry. Grant is excited about his role as a Religious Education teacher at De La Salle Holy Cross College, where he aims to inspire pupils with his deep conviction that everyone has the freedom to choose their own path in faith. Driven by a passion to share the love of Jesus, he strives to ensure every child understands that Jesus loves them as they are and He wants them to be in heaven with Him and he started a Church to show them how to get there.
Grant currently lives with his wife, Dena who is also a past pupil and past teacher of the school. They both matriculated in 1995. “I really enjoyed my time spent as a pupil of De La Salle Holy Cross College. I liked the security and family atmosphere of the school. My brother and sister are also past pupils and both married past pupils of the school so it obviously had a huge impact on our lives.” – he saidThis year the school is joining the Church in its Jubilee theme ‘Pilgrims of Hope’. Our hope rests in Jesus Christ, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, anchoring us through every storm of life. As pilgrims of hope, we journey through this world, knowing that our true citizenship is in heaven. In this life, we face trials and uncertainties, yet we stand firm in the promise of God’s love. As Saint Paul reminds us, “Hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us” (Romans 5:5).”
